Chair of the Board

Jack Wilson, Founder

Jack Wilson, founder of abec, started his career in the Life Science industry as President of Fermentation Design. He founded abec in 1974 to produce commercial scale fermentation and bioprocess equipment. In the early 1970s, he designed the first commercial computer controlled fermenter in the world which is still in operation today at the Institute for Protein Synthesis in Moscow. Jack later designed and built a production facility for TPA, a surgical anticlotting factor that became the world's first commercially successful mammalian cell produced product.

Jack holds three patents in the control and instrumentation field and has authored several papers and textbook chapters. He often states, "In this industry, staying ahead is what creates and maintains your value as a company. It's also what keeps it interesting."

Scott Pickering, President & CEO

Scott joined abec as President and COO in 2001 following almost a decade with General Electric and Danaher Corp. His GE career included increasing responsibility in operations management, six sigma quality and general business leadership. Scott was responsible for focusing GE Lighting on process changes and business improvements that would most impact both internal and external customers. This background fits p articularly well in leading initiatives designed to increase the value of products and services delivered to our customers. Scott believes, "what will enable abec to grow is the creation of partnerships with our customers that provide value to their operations through quality, innovation, and service."

Gary Bender, CFO

Gary was previously with two privately held manufacturing companies following a 22 year career with Air Products and Chemicals in finance, business development and general management roles. Prior to Air Products, he held positions in the international unit of R J Reynolds Industries. His assignments spanned Europe, Canada and Asia. Gary received his MBA degree from University of North Carolina and his undergraduate degree from Penn State University. He has served on community zoning boards and serves on advisory board of CFO Alliance and on the Business Education Partnership of the Workforce Investment Board.

Dick Bonyun, Executive Vice President, Services

Dick is an experienced and recognized customer oriented professional with extensive executive management background in creating world-class Customer Response organizations. His background has been in the sales and support of medical systems and other high-technology products. Dick came to abec from the semiconductor equipment industry, starting and managing award-winning organizations in Zylin, Varian and Mattson Technology.

Brady Cole, Vice President Commercial Operations

Brady has over 20 years of technical and commercial experience in high technology industries. He began his career developing plasma deposition and etch processes for advanced microelectronics. He later moved on to product management roles in the semiconductor capital equipment industry at Mattson Technology and MKS Instruments. Since joining abec in 2002, Brady has held leadership positions in sales and product management. In 2012 he established abec's China business unit, and he currently oversees global sales, marketing, and applications.

Scott Brady, Vice President Project Management

Scott joined abec in 2005 with 19 years of project management and engineering experience in the pharmaceutical industry previously working for Merck & Co., Bayer USA/Miles Laboratories and G. D. Searle & Co. Increasing roles of responsibility at abec have included managing projects as well as leading the Project Management, Engineering, Automation and Design departments. Scott's customer focus, technical leadership and project execution experience guides the abec team to design and provide proven world-class custom process solutions to the biopharmaceutical industry.

Eric Rudolph, Vice President Product Development

Eric is responsible for Product Management, Product Development and Quality at ABEC. Eric has over 30 years of experience in the development, design, installation, operation and commercialization of chemical and biopharmaceutical processes. Eric joined ABEC in February of 2012. Prior to ABEC, Eric was responsible for the commercial and technological development of FMC's innovative Oral Dose and Biomedical Solutions and spent 21 years with Millipore Corporation in capacities of Director of Corporate Strategy, Program Director of Purification Solutions, and varied field position working with customers in the design, installation and operation of bioprocess technologies. Eric has a B.S Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Delaware and a Masters in Administrative Sciences from Johns Hopkins University.

Tim Adams, Vice President Manufacturing Operations

Tim came to abec in 2011 with over 20 years' experience in manufacturing management across a wide variety of industries and applications. With a strong foundation in Mechanical Engineering complemented by an MBA in Management, he has held executive level positions in Operations, Engineering and General Management at several multi-national firms producing highly-engineered custom equipment & integrated systems for the global marketplace. At abec, Tim is focused on driving the organization to achieve Operational Excellence in all activities related to the fabrication and assembly of world-class biopharmaceutical production equipment on a global basis, including Supply Chain Management and multi-site Manufacturing Operations, through implementation of proven Lean business concepts and continuous process improvement strategies. Leading a team of highly capable functional managers within the Manufacturing Operations Group, Tim ensures that customer specifications are rigorously followed, materials and manufacturing methods comply with all applicable quality standards, and equipment is completed to meet abec's commitment to 100% on-time delivery
